SOUTHERN KADUNA CRISIS AND POSSIBLE SOLUTION

The crisis in southern kaduna have a history that i would not like to go into it, but allow that for the main actors or those that know better about the genesis of the crisis, mine is to provide a possible solution to some of the factors contributing to the crisis. I focus on the following factors that contribute to the crisis such as effect of climate change and under development.
EFFECT OF CLIMATE CHANGE; most of the people trying to provide solution to the crisis always under rate the impact of climate change as one of the major factors that is contributing to the crisis in southern kaduna.
The crisis have to do with land, which the indigenous people of southern kaduna are claiming to protect from the migrated herdsmen from far north and even some Western Sahara countries like Chad, Niger, Mali, etc. a critical observation into this countries and far northern part of Nigeria, you will discover that they have common effect of climate change, such as desertification, drought and sometimes flooding. The effect of climate change is the major factor contributing to the high rate of migration by the herdsmen from far northern part of Nigeria and other countries to southern kaduna, north central, and some southern state. If Nigerian government can limit the migration, they can definitely limit the crisis, through prevention and management of climate change.
Preventing the effect of climate change have to do with reducing omission of harmful gas like gas flaring, encouraging the use of clean energy for transport and manufacturing sector, afforestation, etc. Managing the effect of climate change have to do with construction of Dams with modern irrigation facilities to manage flooding and drought.
One of the possible solution for government at all level to manage southern kaduna and other crisis across Nigeria is to introduce agricultural master plan that will lead to the construction of agricultural cities across the country, starting from the most affected areas to the less affected areas.
The agricultural cities could be constructed by dividing the land into sections, with needed infrastructures at the center of the city, such as schools, hospitals, recreation cent re, market, small scale industries, fire service, banks, police station, etc. The residential houses should be build side by side with 50mitres distance from the main road as illustrated in the attach image, the residential area and the infrastructures provided should serve as fence around the divided land, so as to prevent cattle from trespassing to crop section. there should be section for crop cultivation, grass cultivation and grazing. there should be rotation between the farmers and herdsmen after some months, so as to allow cattle grazing where crop was cultivated and crop should be cultivate where cattle have grazed. the wisdom behind rotation between crop cultivation and cattle grazing is to encourage better relationship between the farmers and herdsmen and also allow the soil to regain it fertility from the cattle waste after grazing, while the cattle will also have enough grass and residue of cultivated crop to feed, because allowing the cattle to graze in permanent section of the city could cause over grazing, as well as restricting the farmers permanently within a section can make the soil to loose it fertility.
And for the residential buildings that is to be constructed in the cities, should be divided in section as in the case of land for grazing and crop cultivation,  the residential building should have facilities for fish farming section, poultry farming section and livestock farming section, so as to encourage multiple farming activities and mass production of agricultural product, thereby creating thousands of jobs to unemployed, prevent clashes and encourage better relationship between farmers and herdsmen, provide enable environment for farmers and herdsmen to practice their trade, encourage urban to rural migration instead of rural to urban migration, increase the number of those producing and reducing the consumers, because what we currently have is a situation where urban cities are been expanded on agricultural land, thereby increasing the number of consumers and reducing the number of producers, which encourage rural to urban migration, but the establishment of agricultural cities across northern Nigeria and Nigeria at large, will go a long way in managing clashes between farmers, herdsmen and even prevent cattle rustling.
With the establishment of agricultural cities in southern kaduna, it could reduce high rate of clashes in the area, provide the much needed infrastructures in the area, provide decent job, unite the people more by bringing them together in a well plan city, not as in the current case where they were disperse away from each other and making it more easier for attackers to overrun the villages and making it more difficult for security agency to secure the area. But with this form of master plan, it would be more easier to secure southern kaduna and other places facing same challenges.
The establishment of agricultural cities across northern nigeria could be able to provide solution to some of the factors contributing to southern kaduna crisis, such as effect of climate change and under development as mention above. may God bless Nigeria.

RHETORIC OF AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT IN NIGERIA

Nigeria and Ghana 2016 budget allocation for agriculture in comparison.
Ghana 2016 total budget was 10billion dollars,
Nigeria 2016 total budget was 20billion dollars,
Ghana allocate 100million dollars for agriculture,
Nigeria allocate 125million dollars for agriculture,
Ghana population was less than 28million,
Nigeria population was more than 180million,
Ghana budget 3.5million dollars for 1million Ghanaian,
Nigeria budget 697,444 thousand dollars for 1million Nigerians,
Ghana budget 357 dollars for each Ghanaian,
Nigeria budget 69 dollars for each Nigerian.
If you convert it to naira, it mean that Ghana budget 112,455 naira for each Ghanaian, while Nigeria only budget 21,735 for each Nigerian.
This are some of the reason why I think Nigeria is not on track for agricultural development, but we are on rhetorical track, if you think we are on track, tell us one reason why you think we are on track and I will tell you ten reason why Nigerian government are not serious in developing agriculture.
Thailand budget allocation for agriculture in 2013 was 2.555billion dollars,
Thailand population was 67million in 2013,
that means 38million dollars for 1million people,
and 3,813 dollars for each person.
convert it to naira, it will be 1,201095 million naira for each person. with this analysis, what makes you think Nigeria can meet food sufficiency and even export by 2019 as claim by this administration?
If you ask me, I will tell you that 2016 and 2017 budget allocation for agricultural sector is a disaster, mediocrity and lack of vision or total ignorant of what it takes to meet food sufficiency. the evidence is what we are currently witnessing, high cost of food, despite government claim of bumper harvest. may God save Nigeria.

NEWS ANALYSIS

We would not forget the dismissed police said Wike.
it would be a good idea for the government of River state to compensate all the dismissed policemen, because they are victims of circumstances.
AIRIK passengers remain stranded at Kaduna international airport.
not a good one at all, considering the fact that in few weeks to come, international flight would be diverted to  that same airport. those in charge should not allow such incident to repeat itself again, in other to avoid embarrassment.
Nuhu Ribadu advice southern kaduna crisis.
i think southern kaduna and other crisis in nigeria that have to do with herdsmen is something that have to do with action, not just talking. one of the major factor that contribute to all the crisis been experience is impact of climate change. the government have not giving climate change the needed attention.
The government can do better if they can subsidize other source of energy, such as gas cooker and kerosene, because the high cost of gas and kerosene have live Nigerians with no other choice, but to be using firewood as its the only affordable source of energy, thereby lead to cutting down of millions of trees that are not been replace either by the government or private individuals.
